Life as a Law Student During Midterms Week
A typical student is not that much affected by midterm exams. In fact, it would be just like any other day except that a little effort is needed to be exerted in order to pump up short term memory just before the exam. Yet, a "typical" law student would turn his/her world upside down because of it. The more hard core law students - well, I guess it would be too mean to mention them.
As for me, during my midterms, my sleep pattern changes, as well as the number of sleeping hours. Obviously, I sleep less but the hours could be from 3am-7am, or 6am-10am, or 6am-11am, or 5am-9am. Basically, my body clock is screwed! But I still try to get a minimum of 4 hours of sleep. I heard from someone that 4 hours is all the body needs in order for it function for a day. Although, science would say you need at least 8-10 hours of sleep in order for the body to function properly and this includes the brain. Following that logic, my brain is also screwed!
Another thing is the eating. Since I study and read all the time, sometimes I just forget to eat! (Oh yeah, we should not forget that we need food in order for our body and brain to function.) Not to mention that I search Metro Manila for all the different coffee shops out there just to look for a place to study. To name a few of my most loved study places - Seattle’s Best ATC, Rockwell and Katipunan; Starbucks Tomas Morato, Valero and Tagaytay; and Gloria Jeans Rockwell and Fort. If you know of any coffee shop that is well-lit, open until the wee hours of the morning (preferrably open 24hours) and is courteous to students who study, please let me know. I badly need a new place
hahaha!
Lastly, the added stress level (which could, by the way, lead to stroke, heart failure, heart attack, nervous breakdown, etc.) is just HUGE! It’s there 24/7 and then depression hits after each exam and catapults you further down when the results come out. So now, the perfect question would be, why go through this? Midterms is just another week or two wherein you get an excuse to screw up your body, your brain and could possibly lead to your death.
Hmmm…this sounds just like smoking or alcohol or drug addiction….without the high! Hahaha!
